About this tool

Drip Fumigation Calculator

A field-planning calculator for inline drip fumigation applications using row layout, bed width, product rate, and injection rate.

Inline drip fumigation applies fumigant through the drip irrigation system to the planted bed. Because the treated bed is usually narrower than the row spacing, treated acreage — and the amount of product required at a treated-acre rate — can differ substantially from the field’s total land footprint. Estimating the two separately is the point of this calculator.

What it calculates

Select a fumigant and the calculator loads its default application and injection rates; confirm both against the current product label and your application plan before relying on them. Enter the number of rows, average row length, row spacing, and treated bed width, then select Calculate.

The results report total fumigant required, estimated injection run time, treated acres, and total row-feet. Bed coverage expresses treated bed width as a share of row spacing. Equivalent land-area rate translates the treated-bed rate back to the whole-field footprint, which is the number to compare against a broadcast rate.

Reading the results

Application rate is interpreted per treated acre. Treated area is calculated from bed width and row length; row spacing is used to calculate bed coverage and the equivalent whole-field rate, and does not change the amount of product the treated beds require. Warning badges mark every output once an input has changed, so a displayed result always belongs to the inputs that produced it.

Print or save PDF produces a record containing the submitted inputs, the results, the calculation timestamp, the suggested citation, and a link that reopens the same scenario. Share outputs copies the same summary as plain text, or hands it to an email, a message, or the device share sheet.

Limits

The pesticide label is the law. Product selections and default rates shown here are planning aids; they do not replace the current product label, and they are not a recommendation to apply any product. Always follow label directions, applicable regulations, required safety practices, and site-specific guidance. This tool supports planning and education, and its accuracy is not guaranteed.
